The Space – Gallery + Workshops welcomes Geelong based artists Carlo de Bono and Mellissa Eliott for the month of December.
Mel Eliott and Carlo de Bono first met in 2018 when they both studied Visual Arts at The Gordon, Geelong. There they developed a close bond formed through a sharing of creative ideas and a like-minded attitude to life in general.
Mel and Carlo inspire and encourage each other as artists and friends, fostering a shared empathy and sense of humour. Elliott commenced a Bachelor degree in Creative Arts in 2019 and de Bono went on to teach Visual Arts at The Gordon.
Having exhibited together in group shows over the past few years, Cross-pollination is the first time Mel and Carlo have exhibited as a duo. Cross-pollination showcases their own unique styles in mark making; from the ordered wood carving of Eliott’s geometric panels to the looser, scraffito of de Bono’s ‘pod’ series.
Both artists share the ethos of working from instinct, allowing ideas to flow from the subconscious as compositions develop and themes evolve, maturing into fully- realised works.
Exhibition runs: Dec 1-31
Opening celebration: Saturday 4th 4-6pm.
